Annual Telethon
May 3, 2014
Laurel Mall in Hazleton

The Helping Hands Society will hold its annual telethon at the Laurel Mall on Saturday, May 3, 2014. The telecast will be aired from the JCPenny wing from 12:00 noon until 11:00 PM.

The intent of the telethon is to help parents become aware that hope and promise can indeed become a reality by way of the highly specialized services the children receive at Helping Hands. For over 80 years, this concept has been successfully demonstrated as the children served at a remarkable rate of accomplishment. The suc...cess realized within the Society's various programs justify the need and value for early intervention for special needs children and the children are given an opportunity to succeed at a level far beyond expectations.

Although the Society does receive some third party support from the United Way and the Hazleton Area School District, its primary means of support comes from the proceeds of the telethon. Every penny realized from the telecast is applied to the children's programs, and without this support, children in our neighborhoods would be deprived of the special help they so desperately need.

The Society has been fortunate enough to have the telethon aired for over 20 years by WYLN 35. Under the capable direction of Barry Jais and the generosity of the Gans family, the telethon production has been rated one of the best. It can be seen on WYLN 35 as seen on Service Electric CableVision Hazleton & Mahanoy City, Service Electric Communication Wilkes-Barre, Shen Heights Cable TV, Metrocast Cable Berwick & Pocono and UHF Channels 35, 24 & 47.
